    Abstract

    Pioneering description of a capillary GC system equipped with a far-UV absorbance detector operating in the 168–330 nm region. The work establishes that vapour-phase electronic absorption spectra recorded in line with chromatographic separation provide compound-class selectivity and structural information that conventional flame and electron-capture detectors cannot supply.
